Derren Brown's Ghost Train has arrived at Thorpe Park in Chertsey.

The theme park's highly anticipated new ride opened on Friday (July 8), two months later than expected.

Rated PG13 and with the park ’s longest restrictions board to date, the world’s first ever multi-sensory theme park experience aims to trick and disorientate guests as they board what appears to be a suspended 20ft Victorian train carriage.

However, some thrill-seekers were left disappointed on Sunday (July 10) when Thorpe Park experienced a power failure affecting Derren Brown’s Ghost Train.

Theme park lover Marc, who runs a Thorpe Park fansite called Thorpe Park Mania , experienced the ride on the opening day and described the ghost train as "amazing".

He said: "We got to the park on Friday and saw the ghost train was advertised as opening at 12pm, so we headed over there at just gone 11am and joined the queue which was already forming.

"By the time the gates opened at 12pm the queue was stretching back as far as we could see. We got on just before 1pm, so we queued a couple of hours in total.

"For our first ride, we were all pretty apprehensive.

"Most of the rides at Thorpe Park, you can see exactly what’s going to happen.

"Derren Brown’s Ghost Train is totally different as before riding it we had seen nothing but the huge building and the very few images the park released, so we really didn’t know what to expect."

Marc continued: "I won’t spoil it for first time riders but the ride has its fair share of scares, there are a few points which particularly made me jump, but hearing everyone screaming around me reassured me I wasn’t alone.

"It was definitely worth the wait, so much so [that] I did it again that afternoon and even noticed new things I didn’t notice on the first go. I can’t wait to get back on it.

"In one word I think I would describe it as amazing. It's like nothing I have been on before and it's totally unique."

This is what some other theme park-goers posted on social media after going on the ride.
