Ghostbusters goes interactive this fall at Motiongate Dubai

July 14, 2016, 9:37 PM · The all-female Ghostbusters reboot hits theaters this weekend, and with generally good reviews, it appears that the movie will help revive the once-wildly-popular franchise.

Which is great news for the new Motiongate Dubai theme park, which will feature a trackless, interactive Ghostbusters dark ride among its initial line-up of attractions.

Scenes in Ghostbusters: Battle for New York will include Dana's apartment, the Temple of Gozer, and the climatic battle with the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man. Projection mapping will be used to help bring Slimer and the other ghosts to life in the ride, where visitors will be armed with proton packs to defend the city from the paranormal pests.

Motiongate hasn't officially revealed which companies are working with it to develop the attraction, but North American theme park fans will be reminded of Six Flags' Theme Park Insider Award-winning Justice League Battle for Metropolis, a Sally Corporation production that used ride vehicles from Oceaneering, which also developed trackless vehicles for SeaWorld's Antarctica ride.

Motiongate Dubai is scheduled to open to the public in October.

July 19, 2016 at 9:51 PM · I live close to the construction site of Motiongate. Unless the overall theme of the park is 'Construction in Progress' then the October '16 opening date is way off.
July 20, 2016 at 1:10 PM · Agreed- I want this ride in the US, especially on the west coast. Orlando and overseas seems to get the better attractions. Saw the movie this weekend, started laughing hard about 30 seconds in, and all the way through.
