Park calls in Ghostbusters for Halloween

Who you gonna call? Well, if you're Ocean Park and you're thinking of Halloween, then it has to be Ghostbusters.
The Aberdeen theme park will launch a new haunted attraction at its Halloween Fest this September, bringing the Hollywood supernatural comedy Ghostbusters to life, as it were.
The Ghostbusters-themed attraction taps into the classic 1984 blockbuster comedy Ghostbusters, its sequel Ghostbusters II from 1989 and this year's reboot.
The haunted house in Ocean Park will capture the spirit of all three films and offer guests two experiences, according to the park's director of events and entertainment, Eva Au Yeung.
"Guests will battle ominous and sinister spirits from the brand-new Ghostbusters film on the streets of New York and in the city's Subway," she said.
A "Ghostbusters Academy" will also be built inside the haunted house, offering visitors of all ages a hilarious interactive experience.
The academy is perfect for families to spend time together as adults can reminisce about the good old days while kids can "bust" some playful ghosts, she described.
The 1984 movie follows the ghost- hunting adventures of three parapsychology professors - played by Bill Murray, Dan Ackroyd and Harold Ramis - who start their own ghost extermination business known as "Ghostbusters" after being kicked out of their university.
At the haunted house, Halloween thrill seekers can "become" the Ghostbusters and visit places such as the "fire station" and the "laboratory" - the setting of the first two films in the series.
"Ocean Park Halloween Fest is all about cutting-edge and interactive entertainment that immerses guests in unforgettable experiences," said park marketing director Perry Chung Chi- chiu.
"Ghostbusters was part of the collective memory of movie lovers from around the world and resonates strongly with people of all ages," said Chung, who hopes families and young people will have spooky fun at the park's annual Halloween celebration.
The park partnered with Sony Pictures for the new attraction, licensed and designed in collaboration with New York- based Lynton V Harris & The Sudden Impact! Entertainment Company.
The Halloween Fest will open to the public in October while corporate chartered events for the festival will begin in mid-September. From July 21 to August 28, guests can enjoy a 15 percent discount on day admission tickets upon presenting a Ghostbusters movie ticket at the Ocean Park ticketing office.
The new Ghostbusters movie will open locally on Thursday. A Hong Kong gala premiere was held yesterday.
