Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! was the UK’s fastest growing tourist attraction of 2015, according to data from online ticketing specialist, AttractionTix.co.uk.
AttractionTix.co.uk collated 160,000 bookings and analysed the percentage growth of the most popular attractions in the UK to find the highest increases of bookings.
Since launching Spice Girls and Alice in Wonderland exhibitions, a significant increase in bookings led Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! London to rank number one in the fastest growing attractions of last year, the company said.
The attraction also featured in the world’s top 10 most popular attractions list in the 9th spot, behind the Kennedy Space Centre and ahead of Busch Gardens.
Hampton Court Palace, which celebrated its 500th anniversary in 2015, ranked second. When the Tudor drama Wolf Hall aired last year, AttractionTix saw a significant 614% increase in sales for the attraction over the six week period.
Simon Applebaum, consumer marketing director at AttractionTix.co.uk commented:
“Whether it’s due to an anniversary or TV appearance – or in the case of Hampton Court Palace, both, it’s fascinating to see which attractions grow in popularity over a year period. Last year, Ripley’s launched brand new exhibitions in addition to hosting their usual quirky collections which is a great way to attract new customers.
It will be interesting to see how the newer attractions like Kidzania and the Arcelormittal Orbit will do next year as they too continue to grow in popularity.”
