Lego Certified Store to open at Dreamworld this November

Dreamworld owners Ardent Leisure this week signed an agreement with the global toy manufacturer to open Australia's first Lego Certified store at the Gold Coast theme park.

The store will be the largest retail outlet at Dreamworld, covering an impressive 350 square metres. The store will be accessible to both park-goers and externally.

The addition of Lego to Dreamworld sees the brand join other family-friendly properties at Dreamworld that include affiliations with DreamWorks and ABC Kids.

CEO of Dreamworld, Craig Davidson said of the announcement: "This new store will be a destination in its own right and an added attraction to the existing retailers, rides and unique experiences at Dreamworld."

"With the LEGO Certified Store, our pass-holders and guests will have access to exclusive LEGO product and special Lego events adding even more value and complementing Dreamworld's current stable of great entertainment, wildlife and thrill ride experiences," added Mr Davidson.

British tourism operator Merlin Entertainments exclusively own and operate the global network of Legoland theme parks, likely indicating that Dreamworld's announcement today will see the Lego presence at the park limited to the retail outlet rather than full-fledged theme park attractions. Last year Merlin announced that they would be opening a Legoland Discovery Centre at the Chadstone Mall in Melbourne in 2017.

The Lego store at Dreamworld is due to open in November 2016, making it the first Lego Certified store in Australia.
